Known as 817M40, EN-24 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel that boasts impressive mechanical properties. It typically offers tensile strength ranging from 850 to 1000 MPa and yield strength between 680 and 880 MPa, depending on the heat treatment process. The usual chemical makeup includes carbon (0.36–0.44%), along with manganese, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. EN-24 bars are often supplied in a hardened and tempered state, ensuring excellent wear resistance, toughness, and machinability. For even greater surface durability, these bars can undergo additional hardening through case hardening or nitriding.
