C45 Sheet and Plates are classified as medium carbon steels, typically containing around 0.45% carbon, along with manganese and trace amounts of silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. This material boasts impressive tensile strength, ranging from 570 to 700 MPa, and a yield strength of about 330 MPa. When heat-treated, it achieves even greater hardness and wear resistance. C45 is known for its good machinability in the normalized state and responds effectively to flame and induction hardening. While welding thick sections can be challenging, with the right pre- and post-weld heat treatment, it can be shaped into structural and mechanical components.
